Christian Walk, Life, Personal

The Bigger Picture

Putting puzzles together is an interesting mode of entertainment we humans seem to be fond of. There is just something about creating order out of complete chaos that is extremely satisfying. However, have you ever found yourself just staring at a single piece trying to figure out where it’s supposed to fit in the bigger picture? A good bit of time can go by before you realize how little is being accomplished with that approach, especially if it’s an enormous puzzle.

Isn’t life an awful lot like that? We spend so much time trying to figure out how the little piece that we are dealing with currently is supposed to fit. Before we know it, time has passed, and we have accomplished little.

The Lord told Israel through the prophet Jeremiah that they should spend less time concerned with their current circumstances and trust the bigger plan He had in store for them.

For I know the thoughts that I think toward you, saith the Lord, thoughts of peace, and not of evil, to give you an expected end. Then shall ye call upon me, and ye shall go and pray unto me, and I will hearken unto you. And ye shall seek me, and find me, when ye shall search for me with all your heart. And I will be found of you, saith the Lord: and I will turn away your captivity, and I will gather you from all the nations, and from all the places whither I have driven you, saith the Lord; and I will bring you again into the place whence I caused you to be carried away captive.”

We may not always understand God’s plan for our “here and now,” but He knows the end result. Trust in that plan. See the bigger picture. Enjoy that peace that God can bring when we faithfully…

Walk in Him.
