Christian Walk, Life, Personal

Oh, My God

Three simple words… Depending on the usage, this phrase could be one of the most meaningful or empty. Sadly, it does not appear to be most commonly used in the way that could truly be life-changing.

How could three words be life-changing, you may ask? Consider each word. “Oh” signifies a moment of realization. “Let me step back and look at this again.” There is an element of surprise and discovery which causes a nearly automatic exclamation. “My” is a word of ownership. Whatever word is to follow is either something one identifies with or is claiming as his own. “God” is the Almighty Creator of all things who offers eternal salvation to all who call on His name. Those who can claim Him as their own know that they owe all to Him.

These words could be used when one discovers more about himself, the world around him, or of a characteristic of God that draws him into a deeper and more meaningful relationship with the One who makes life matter.

O Lord, my God, when I in awesome wonder
Consider all the worlds Thy Hands have made
I see the stars, I hear the rolling thunder
Thy power throughout the universe displayed
And when I think of God, His Son not sparing
Sent Him to die, I scarce can take it in
That on the Cross, my burden gladly bearing
He bled and died to take away my sin
When Christ shall come with shout of acclamation
And lead me home, what joy shall fill my heart
Then I shall bow with humble adoration
And then proclaim, my God, how great Thou art
Then sings my soul, my Saviour God, to Thee
How great Thou art, how great Thou art
Then sings my soul, my Saviour God, to Thee
How great Thou art, how great Thou art

Consider how powerful your words are as you continue to…

Walk in Him.
