Many things are described as “awesome” nowadays. “That pizza was awesome!” “That was an awesome movie!” “I just bought the most awesome pair of sunglasses!” That description could really be applied to anything that gets one quasi-excited.
Have you ever truly been awe-filled, though? There are a few times in my life that I feel I have reached that level. My mind goes to a moment when I was standing just right on a cliff in the Rockie Mountains that it made me feel like I was floating in mid-air. In that moment, I could barely breathe. Another moment was when I held my first child after he was born. My mind was filled with the wonder at how this life had been created. Thoughts of all the responsibilities that come along with becoming a parent filled me with awe. Those moments were awesome.
There is something else, though, that surpasses moments like these by leaps and bounds. Take some time to wrap your mind around eternity. Try to come to a complete understanding of who God is. Consider how small you are in relation to the universe. These are mind-blowing, or should I say awe-filling, endeavors. When I consider who my God is and what He has done for me, I need to be filled with awe. That awe should affect me in a way that pushes me to be a better person.
Be filled with the awe of our “awesome” God as you continue to…
Walk in Him.
