I teach 11th/12th Bible. We just started a study on worldview. What is it? How does it affect us? How can we use it? That sort of thing.
Today we brought up Christ’s discussion in Matthew 5 about salt/light.
Ye are the salt of the earth: but if the salt have lost his savour, wherewith shall it be salted? it is thenceforth good for nothing, but to be cast out, and to be trodden under foot of men. Ye are the light of the world. A city that is set on an hill cannot be hid. Neither do men light a candle, and put it under a bushel, but on a candlestick; and it giveth light unto all that are in the house. Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works, and glorify your Father which is in heaven.
After defining salt and light, I asked who that is actually talking about. The easy response is Christians, but is that accurate? When we understand “worldview” (a set of basic beliefs, coupled with knowledge of the past and present, that we use to interact with the world around us), the conclusion could be made that Christ is talking about all men. We will all make a difference one way or another.
Don’t give in to the lie that you are insignificant. We are all created for the same purpose, to bring glory to God. Do your best each day to present Him through your life as you keep…
walking in Him!
